From 28 April to 2 May 2025 the international conference 33rd European Vegetation Survey – Vegetation of Europe: Diversity, Dynamics, Conservation, and Restoration took place in Perugia (Italy). This event is one of the most significant scientific conferences in Europe dedicated to vegetation research and conservation.
Researchers from the LSFRI "Silava" participated in the Conference, presenting their latest findings on the diversity, dynamics, and management effects on vegetation in Latvian forests and wetlands.
On 29 April the following presentations were given:
- Ilze Barone: Epiphytic and epixylic bryophyte and lichen assessment under forest biodiversity monitoring in Latvia;
- Linda Gerra-Inohosa: The impact of road characteristics on forest roadside vegetation diversity in Latvia;
- Diāna Jansone: Shifts in vegetation diversity and dominance following large-scale clear-cutting: Evidence from Latvia;
- Agnese Anta Liepiņa: Edge effects on forest ground cover vegetation in black alder dominated stands.
On 1 May the following speakers participated in the session:
- Līga Pentjuša: Assessment of changes in plant functional traits along forest road verges;
- Agita Treimane: Vegetation monitoring within framework of National forest monitoring in Latvia.
The participation of our representatives in this Conference highlights the Institute's expertise and active engagement in the international scientific community, while also promoting awareness of Latvia's ecosystem knowledge and sustainable management solutions at the European level.
