Latvian Council of Science Grant Agreement No. lzp-2020/2-0416
The aim of the proposal is to assess breeding potential of the eastern Baltic provenances of Scots pine for improvement of growth plasticity of trees from local populations, thus aiding to increase the sustainability of pine forests in the future.
The objectives of the study:
- Assessment of plasticity of responses of radial growth of the eastern Baltic provenances of Scots pine differing by productivity to meteorological conditions along a climatic gradient;
- Assessment of genetic control of the plasticity of responses (tolerance intervals) to the main weather factors affecting growth of the eastern Baltic provenance of Scots pine by the methods of quantitative genetics.
