On December 11, 2019, the European Commission (EC) issued the statement "European green deal" or "European green deal". Building on the European Green Deal, on 20 May 2020 the EC launched a communication on the "EU Biodiversity Strategy 2030".
The aim of the Study is to contribute to the implementation of the "European Union Biodiversity Strategy 2030" and the application of the "Voluntary Guidelines for Forestry Closer to Nature" proposed by the European Commission (EC) to Latvian conditions.
Tasks of study:
- To scientifically evaluate the voluntary guidelines for forestry closer to nature prepared by the EC, including the guidelines for boreal forests.
- To prepare scientifically based proposals for the application of guidelines in Latvian forests without restrictions on economic activity.
- To provide proposals for forest management principles in forests with limited economic activity, including urban forests, environmental and natural resource protection zones, etc.
- To carry out a socio-economic evaluation of proposals.
